Spiraea, sometimes spelled spirea in common names, is a genus of about 80 to 100 species of shrubs in the family Rosaceae. They are native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, with the greatest diversity in eastern Asia. Gold Flames's new growth appears red, copper and orange. Mature foliage is brilliant golden yellow with pink flowers in June. After blooming, trim lightly for bright new foliage. Foliage turns red in the fall. Prefers full sun and will grow 2 to 3 feet.
