HPL Couch to Full Marathon is an 18-week, 3-day-a-week program that builds a beginner runner toward a confident marathon finish through a long, patient progression. Four dedicated cutback and recovery weeks keep the mileage sustainable, and race-day fueling gets rehearsed on every long run past 90 minutes — not guessed at on race morning. A Week 8 benchmark (a half marathon distance) and a Week 14 peak 20-mile long run build real confidence before you ever reach the start line. $57.

A marathon is more than double a half marathon — 26.2 miles that punish any plan built on hope instead of progression. HPL Couch to Full Marathon is 18 weeks, 3 days a week, built for a runner who can already comfortably run 6-8 miles continuously (or has finished HPL Couch to Half Marathon), and it takes the distance exactly as seriously as it deserves.

The program moves through four phases. Base Building (Weeks 1-4) locks in continuous running comfort, with a cutback week at Week 4. Endurance Extension (Weeks 5-8) stretches the long run out to a half marathon distance by Week 8 — a formal benchmark that proves the base is real. Distance Peak (Weeks 9-15) is where marathon training actually happens: long runs climb toward a 20-mile peak at Week 14, with three separate cutback and recovery weeks (9, 12, and 15) built in along the way so the body absorbs the load instead of just accumulating fatigue. Taper & Race Week (Weeks 16-18) sharply cuts volume so you arrive at the start line fresh, then you run the marathon itself.

This is also where nutrition stops being a side note and becomes part of the training. Starting in Week 7, every long run past 75-90 minutes includes a scheduled fueling rehearsal — carbohydrates and electrolytes on a set interval, not just when you feel low. In the final days before race day, the guide walks through carb-loading the right way: topping off glycogen stores without a pre-race feast. By the Week 14 peak run, your race-morning meal and in-run fueling plan should already feel routine, because the single biggest reason marathon runners fade late isn't fitness — it's a stomach that was never trained for the job.

The injury profile reflects what marathon mileage actually risks: stress fractures, Achilles tendinopathy, IT band syndrome, and GI distress from untested fueling. The four cutback weeks exist specifically to manage that risk, and skipping them to "keep building" is the most common way beginner marathoners get hurt before they ever see the start line.

$57. Eighteen weeks. Three days a week. A marathon finish, built one patient, well-fueled week at a time.
