Syringa is a genus of 12 currently recognized species of flowering woody plants in the olive family, native to woodland and scrub from southeastern Europe to eastern Asia, and widely and commonly cultivated in temperate areas elsewhere. Ivory silk has creamy white flowers that bloom on upright panicles in late spring to early summer. Tolerates light shade but flowers do best in sun. Prefers rich, moisst, slightly acidic soil with good drainage. Will grow 20 ft tall and 15 ft wide.
