The pear tree and shrub are a species of genus Pyrus, in the family Rosaceae, bearing the pomaceous fruit of the same name. Several species of pear are valued for their edible fruit and juices while others are cultivated as trees.  Chanticleer has glossy green foliage during the season with excellent fall color.  Early profuse white spring bloom.  Grows pyramidal to columnar in its younger stage.  Becomes more oval with age.  Will grow 8 to 15 ft tall abd 6 to 12 ft wide.  Prefers full sun.
